About 10 years ago, out of some turmoil within Team Alliance, Team Brasa was born and immediately began to dominate competitions on the world stage. After just few years, some team members began to splinter off into their own new teams (Checkmat & Atos) and Brasa’s impact was felt less and less.

Cut to 2014; Team Brasa is going through a resurgence. We have clubs all over the world and are once again working our way to the world stage. We have numerous international champions at competitions all over the world – and we have just made the podium at the 2014 IBBJF World Championship.

On Saturday, November 8th, my professor (4th degree black belt, Mario Esfiha) will be celebrating his 4th anniversary with a seminar given by his professor, 6th degree black belt Robert Traven. Following this seminar will be an open mat, then a belt promotion ceremony for some of Mario’s students.

Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate with our Team! Even if you can’t make it to the seminar, you should come and be a part of the belt promotion ceremony FOR SURE!

The day’s schedule will look like this:

• 11am – 1pm Seminar with Professor Roberto Traven
  (Cost $70) 
• 1pm – 2pm Open mat & rolling
  (For seminar participants only) 
• 2pm – 3pm Belt Promotion Ceremony!
  (Family and Friends are welcome) 

Due to these events, we will not have kids class or open mat at Insight BJJ that day.

So our school is growing and we’ve had months of good, solid attendance. Some of you are nearing readiness for competition and may be wondering how to go about getting your feet wet. Unfortunately, there are some not-so-legit entitiies out there hosting tournaments that are NOT worth the time and money. I thought a little help and direction would be appreciated, so…

In December there are two tournaments that I believe are worth the effort and both could be great for first timers AND seasoned competitors.
